The Canon and the Lake

Is this experience a mirror of what eternity could be like for me? – Ron Stegman

The music of Pachelbel’s Canon was playing, and the lights surrounding the lake were changing colors according to the music. The entire scene and atmosphere were almost magical. There were waterfowl swimming in the lake – a variety of ducks, geese, and swans. They would occasionally give a call, but for the most part, they glided silently through the water with the colored light reflecting off them.

Suddenly, with the music, the lights, my arm around Michele, and the reflections on the lake, the moment took me beyond myself. Briefly, I felt as if I were one with these birds, with creation. It was almost as if I were outside my body. This was all very brief, but so exhilarating and joyful. I did not want this to end.
